Domicile Desktop is a Wayland compositor built around the idea of using web technologies to customize a Linux desktop. Its modified Chromium engine represents native Wayland windows as DOM elements, allowing developers to style, transform, animate and arrange them with CSS in much the same way they would work with elements on a webpage.

On the compositor side, Domicile uses Maganese, a Rust-based tiling system inspired by Sway. The project offers a different approach to desktop window management, aimed at making extensive customization more accessible to web developers.

Domicile was developed with the help of Claude Code. More information is available at Domicile-Desktop.com.
