XREAL has officially launched the AURA, marking the debut of the first wired augmented reality glasses powered by Google's Android XR platform. The device is equipped with transparent Micro-OLED displays offering a 70-degree field of view, alongside a Snapdragon Reality Elite processor and integrated Gemini AI. According to reports from TechPowerUp, the core concept behind the AURA is to allow users to carry their apps, screens, entertainment, and AI assistants anywhere they go.

From day one, users will have access to millions of familiar mobile applications and games available on Google Play, in addition to experiences specifically designed for XR. The Android XR operating system brings standard hand and voice inputs to the glasses, while Gemini enhances the experience by interacting naturally with what users see and do. A key feature is Wired Mirroring, which allows users to connect a computer or handheld gaming console directly via USB-C. This instantly transforms the device into a massive private spatial window, enabling laptops and other compatible hardware to coexist within the user's spatial workspace alongside native Android XR apps.

The AURA is designed to make spatial computing practical and portable across various scenarios. For work, it creates a multi-window workspace without the need for physical monitors, allowing users to place windows in virtual space and utilize Gemini to interpret or act on screen content. In entertainment mode, the glasses function as a private theater on demand, supporting familiar streaming apps and using electrochromic dimming to create an immersive viewing experience while maintaining awareness of surroundings. For gaming, the device supports both Android titles and mirrored console games on a large, private display.

The XREAL AURA is available for order today with limited-time pricing starting at $1,099 for the model featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Devices are expected to begin shipping in mid-November.
