Tor Browser 16.0 has been released as the first stable version of the privacy-focused browser based on Firefox ESR 153. The update introduces several platform and interface changes, along with a feature designed to make browser activity less visible to other applications.

Among the main changes is support for Linux running on 64-bit Arm hardware. The release also includes redesigned settings and generic window titles, which are intended to help prevent other applications from identifying or monitoring activity through the browser’s window titles.

Tor Browser for Android receives multiple interface updates aligned with Google’s Material Design 3 guidelines. These changes update the mobile browser’s visual experience without altering the release’s broader privacy focus.

As with recent Firefox changes, Tor Browser 16.0 ends support for 32-bit x86 Linux systems. The project’s full changelog includes the remaining updates and bug fixes included in the release.
