Nvidia has released version 620.70.06 of its Linux Driver, the first release in the R620 branch. The update focuses on performance improvements and bug fixes rather than major new features.

A key change improves explicit synchronization performance in high-frame-rate benchmarks running on Wayland. The release also fixes corruption and screen flickering in Vulkan applications on Wayland when __VK_ENABLE_DEVICE_GROUPS is enabled on multi-GPU systems.

The OpenGL visual indicator enabled with __GL_SHOW_GRAPHICS_OSD now works across all Vulkan back ends, including Wayland and direct-to-display. The driver also addresses a regression affecting Assassin’s Creed Shadows and intermittent crashes in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth when using VKD3D-Proton descriptor heaps.

The NVIDIA 620.70.06 Linux driver is available to download from NVIDIA’s website.
