MPV 0.42 is now available, bringing a set of feature enhancements and fixes to the open-source, cross-platform media player. The release follows nearly a year after version 0.41.

Wayland support receives several updates, including session management and direct color management without relying on the Vulkan API. The release also improves support for BT.2100 mapping and scRGB, and includes other Wayland-related fixes. On Linux, HDR colorspace signalling has been improved in the DRM code.

MPV 0.42 adds a libcurl-based network backend for HTTP/2 and HTTP/3. It also introduces menu navigation for DVD-Video, Blu-ray HDMV and BD-J content, as well as DVD-Audio playback. The player can now play ISO images directly for DVD-Video, DVD-Audio and Blu-ray media.

Other additions include improved Dolby Vision Profile 7 support, SRV3 YouTube subtitles and an AMD Frame Rate Conversion Filter. Further release details and downloads are available through the MPV project on GitHub.
