Discord plans to let search engines index content from its discoverable servers, making some conversations findable through Google and other search providers. The change has raised privacy concerns, but Discord offers controls for both server owners and individual members.

Owners of discoverable servers can manage indexing in Server Settings under the community settings’ Web Presence section. They can choose whether search engines can find channel summaries, channel messages, or both. These options apply only to public channels visible to all server members. Servers without the Web Presence option may be private or community servers; their status can be checked in Community Overview.

Discord says indexing of channel summaries will begin on November 16, 2026, while indexing of channel messages is expected to start in mid-December.

Members can separately opt out of having their messages included. In user settings, open Data & Privacy, then How Discord Uses My Data, and turn off “Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages.” The setting is on by default.

Users can also review profile and activity-sharing permissions. Profile sharing is managed in Data & Privacy, while Activity Sharing is under Activity Privacy in the Games & Apps section of the settings menu.
