StackSocial is offering new U.S. customers a lifetime subscription to Babbel’s language-learning service for $159 with the code LEARN. The listed regular price is $299, and the offer is available through Nov. 8 at 11:59 p.m. PT. StackSocial prices may change.
The subscription covers all 14 Babbel languages, including Spanish, French, German and Italian. Lessons are ad-free, can be downloaded for offline use, and sync progress between phones and computers. Babbel says lessons are written by more than 150 linguists and language educators, focus on conversations relevant to travel and work, and take 10 to 15 minutes each.
The source also cites a study by Yale University researchers in which all participants improved their oral proficiency over three months. Unlike Duolingo’s free tier, which the source says limits users to five mistakes a day, Babbel has no mistake limit. Duolingo’s paid plan is cited at $6.99 per month.
