AerynOS 2026.11 is available with lichen-installer included on its ISO as an alternative installer for users to test. It has not replaced the distribution’s default installer, but is intended to help make installations more robust.
The release also brings Fwupd into the AerynOS repository, providing a way to update Linux firmware. Budgie is now available to early adopters as a desktop option, including during installation.
Among the updated packages are GNOME 51.1, KDE Plasma 6.8.2, COSMIC 1.11, Budgie 10.10.4, Mesa 26.2.6, QEMU 11.1.3 and Wine 11.21. AerynOS 2026.11 uses the Linux 7.2.14 kernel.
